Distance until service is (last-service odometer + interval) − current odometer; interval used is distance since the last service ÷ interval. Time-based limits can fall due before distance ones, so track both.

A coach carries dozens of items on their own intervals — oil and filters, brake inspections, coolant, air dryers, gearbox oil — and it is easy for one to slip when a vehicle is busy. How does the tracker work out the distance until the next service?

It adds the interval to the odometer reading at the last service to find the odometer at which the next service is due, then subtracts the current reading. For example, an item last serviced at 66,000 with a 15,000 interval is next due at 81,000, so a vehicle currently on 78,000 has 3,000 left to run.

What does the percentage of the interval used mean?

It is the distance covered since the last service divided by the interval, as a percentage. At 80% you are four-fifths of the way through the interval — a useful trigger to book the work in before it falls due rather than after.

What happens when an item is overdue?

If the current reading is already past the next-service odometer, the remaining distance goes negative and the interval used passes 100%. The tool flags the item as overdue and shows how far beyond the interval it has run.

Does it work in miles or kilometres?

Either — it is unit-agnostic. Just keep the current odometer, the last-service reading, and the interval all in the same unit, and set the label to match so the output reads correctly.

Is distance the only thing that triggers a service?

No. Many items also have a time limit, an engine-hours limit, or a statutory inspection date that can fall due before the distance interval does. Use this as a distance tracker alongside your calendar and any operator-licence inspection schedule, not as the only trigger.
